Cupcake Eve

I love Christmas.

I love that Christmas equals HOME. I love that Christmas means family, and movies, and fires, and white lights, and old friends, and mistle toe, and ugly sweaters, and it's a wonderful life, and parades, and snowmen, and jingle bell rock, and best of all... a break.

I love that we now spend Chistmas in Sonoma and it is filled with bike rides through wine vineyards and homemade meals and television in the afternoon.

I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be... than here.

P.S. I don't celebrate Christmas. Well, not officially anyway.

Confused Cupcake

Doesn't this cupcake look a little confused? Like... a genius baker thought it would be brilliant to place 3 bright contrasting colors on this poor hapless cupcake; colors that instead should belong to a sante fe kitchen backsplash.

Right?

I'm confused.

This is what happens when you have 2 days to go until a 10 day break sans work... cupcake colors start to remind you of out-of-state coutertops. True story.

Shiny Happy Cupcake

Even though Los Angeles has finally welcomed some sort of semblence of a 'season' (which by the way, I am LOVING- there is something about a little chill in the air during the holidays,) I am feeling all 'shiny, happy people' inside, because after Tuesday, just 48 small hours from now, I will have entered bliss until January 2nd.

To say that I am looking forward to Wednesday, oh glorious 12th day of December, is an understatement. Part of me wants to call this- the 'understatement of the year.' After all, we are coming up on the neverending New Year's countdowns, resolutions and lists, but I'm sure there was another 'understatement' in 2007 more worthy of this title, so I will go on.

Tuesday is my final marquee event before 2008. I love my job, but I am ready for a break.

The thought of not having another HUGE event until, get this, NEXT YEAR, is like licking a big dollop of frosting off a cupcake... 100x over.

I will get to relax. Get organized. Get little Edith hypnotized. Get packed. Get moved. Get out, and get home.

It shall be the most beautiful TWO weeks, more than two weeks, in a long while. And I will pretend that the time I am spending at home = the unbridled euphoric ectasy that eating a cupcake gives me for that one fleeting moment... except it will last for 10 days.

I can't wait.

Cupcake Trifecta

To all of the people who helped me raise more than $1,500.00 for AIDS Project Los Angeles…

Thank you for your support in marking my Marathon Trifecta (as I am affectionately calling it.) San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Vegas. Not bad.

I completed the marathon in a little over five hours literally running into my family. A special thank you to them for spending the weekend with me in the freezing Las Vegas cold. And a little love to my sister-- for going to sleep at 9PM on a Saturday night in Vegas. A struggle I’m sure…

There is nothing more bizarre than walking through a Vegas casino at 4:30AM on the way to run a marathon, while everyone around you is still partying from the night before. The dichotomy was unreal, and fantastic.

Oh, and to top it all off… on my first spin I won $1,000.00 on a 25 cent slot machine with a five dollar bill. Guess I’m good luck...

So again… thank you.
