Part 2 de cupcake a la halloween.
All day I've been thinking... skeletons are scary. And scary movies are spooky. And creaky hardwood floors are eerie. And unexpected noises are freaky. And freaky fridays are funny. And funny boys are yummy (like cupcakes.) And yummy cupcakes make me happy (like boys.) And work is exciting and boring, too. And life is suprising. And blackouts are frightening. And hollywood is shocking. And cold air is chilly. And spiders are creepy, and terrifying, and alarming. And a kiss is spine-tingling.
In a good way.
Here's a kiss sealed with a blood-curdling cupcake.

Is there a Ghost in my Cupcake?
PART 1
First: Happy silver day of birth Miss B! (You know who you are.)
Second: Ooooo... B's birthday happens to fall on a little holiday called HALLOWEEN; less than 43 minutes and counting. You know what that means? Fishnets.
Third: I shall be writing PART 2 of the scary haunted LA cupcakes edition from a quaint bungalow on san vicente- also known as... my office. Boo.

Travelin' Cupcakes
I have been on a whirlwind of Saturday night trips these past few weekends. It's not that I'm tiring of Los Angeles, or that I am any less in love with this city than I have recently claimed to be, it's just that when I see that '12 miles to Santa Barbara' freeway sign on the 101, I get ridiculously giddy. Or, when I pass the fancy Jack in the Box on Garnet, I know I have arrived in San Diego and the left on Jewel street is just a few blocks away. The feeling is better than a cupcake any day... And we all know that is saying, A LOT. It's a feeling of excitement (and alcohol) mixed with familiarity mixed with unpredictability mixed with the kind of unconditional love that is only found in the best of friends. Put us all together and you have trouble, but you also have memories. (Cue the 'emo' music.)
With another jaunt coming up this weekend, I have the next 5 days to gear up. On my past mini excursions, I've had soot in my eyes, Charger fans in my face (not literally) and I've spent some quality time with my little volvo. (By the way, I shuttled 6 grown adults in my pseudo-wagon, so I now know that I will officially be the coolest soccer mom on the block. If you don't see the connection between two 25-year-olds curled up in my 'way back,' then I'm afraid... you just need to look harder.)
I double-dare you to try taking directions from a 'way' back-seat driver. Nearly impossible, I tell you.
#1 Lesson learned from this weekend's San Diego trip: NEVER trust a girl in a terrible Pocohantas costume (your 'morning after' outfit is SO superior)... and NEVER (never) eat cupcakes for breakfast.
You'll be happy to know I did not partake in the latter. Victory!

Cupcakes On the Move
My cupcakes and I are hitting the road in the next few months. I wish I could say I was driving cross-country (something I've always wanted to do) but really, I will just be packing up and moving down the street, or across town, or downtown, or uptown or to some town.
Something like that. Oh, and I plan on leaving the cupcakes on Stanley. Wouldn't want the new neighbors to go hungry, now would I.

Open Cupcake
It's been a crazy week. A crazy week of long hours and late nights.
And just when you think it's time to open up and step outside.
It rains.
Chocolate and vanilla cupcakes, that is.

Snowy Cupcakes
As Los Angeles continues to amaze even the most veteran of Californians (such as myself) with unbelievable early autumn weather and by early autumn, I mean the dead of summer, LA feels more like it's gearing up for Memorial Day barbeques than Halloween festivities.
However, the fake snow kiosk has magically sprouted up at the Grove, so all Angelinos can rest assured that it is indeed almost mid-October, which to most retailers means... Christmas.
Now, I know it's a little early to start rambling on about the joys of Christmas, but truthfully, if Nordstrom can sell a cable sweater when it's 90 degrees outside, I can talk about Christmas in October.
So there.
More to come regarding my sincere all-out love for Christmas... and Christmas cupcakes.

Cupcake with a View
Tonight I took a walk. I took a walk for a lot of reasons.
Top three:
1. To stand up.
2. To go outside.
3. To stop the cupcake.
Good news, it worked.
If all I can see from my bedroom window are iron bars and my neighbor's carport, at least I can open my front door and step directly outside... Even if directly outside means narrowly missing a cricket and cigarette butts, it's still fresh air, and it's right outside my door. One of these days, I will have a room with a view... one of these days.
